Microchip introduced the space industry’s first Arm®-based microcontrollers (MCUs) that combine the low-cost and large ecosystem benefits of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) technology with space-qualified versions that have scalable levels of radiation performance. Based on the automotive-qualified SAMV71, the SAMV71Q21RT radiation-tolerant and SAMRH71 radiation-hardened MCUs implement the widely deployed Arm® Cortex®-M7 System on Chip (SoC), enabling more integration, cost reduction and higher performance in space systems.
SAMV71Q21RT is the radiation tolerant version of the popular Microchip SAMV71Q21. This space-qualified version of the product adds: Ceramic & hermetic package, extended temperature range -40C to 125C, extended qualification flow according to QML-V or QML-Q space grade flow. Radiation performance for the SAMV71Q21RT: SEL LET > 60 MeV.cm2/mg (at 125C), and TID up to 20 Krad (Si).
SAMRH71 is the Radiation-Hardened-By-Design (RHBD) version of the popular Microchip, a highly integrated, high-performance 32-bit ARM-embedded micro-controller based on the Cortex-M7 architecture. This space-qualified version of the product adds SpaceWire and 1553, and also offers: ceramic & hermetic package, extended temperature range -55C to 125C, extended qualification according to QML-V or QML-Q space grade flow.
